“Daily Litanies for Sentient Beings” is a portfolio deck of 10 full-color offset press cards by artist David John Attyah.
The intention of the deck is to express and to reaffirm a set of shared progressive values. “Daily Litanies” first appeared in 2016, then was updated in 2020 in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sadly now again in 2025, our progressive values have come under wide public attack and ridicule.
“Daily Litanies” is designed to counteract the politics of negativity and hate. The deck is styled after the red prayerbooks with which Attyah was raised. In that tradition, repetition plays a central role in existential health - we get more grounded by repeating frequently our core beliefs.
These are recitations for secular humanists, who believe in equality and justice.
